“The process is very well organized and thought out. The exam is very well structured. It’s only going to benefit you. Let’s face it, it’s a big glaring stamp on your resume, and a huge 3rd party recognition of your ability, so why not?!”

Travis White, GSC, Project Manager

Travis is more than a huge Gold Seal Certification fan, he’s an avid believer in continual education and professional development.

When Travis began his career in construction, he began working from the very bottom. Originally he had owned and managed his own business in the food industry, and felt that it was time for a change. Thinking this would be a temporary position, Travis took a job working on a construction site, with no experience or education in the field. He found it was hard work, but it he enjoyed it nonetheless. Within a year of working for a company he was asked to do onsite safety, and from there a second opportunity presented itself to become a project manager and estimator. As he accepted his new role, he took it upon himself to learn as much as he could about the industry he was now working in. Today, Travis is still a project manager for a commercial industrial roofing company.

Travis heard about Gold Seal Certification when he started getting involved at his Local Construction Association (NLCA). He, accompanied by one of his peers, attended an informational session about Gold Seal Certification and was briefed about the program. After discovering all the benefits, Travis decided it was something he wanted to accomplish.

Travis is a recent graduate from Gold Seal Certification, having earned his certificate in June 2016. Travis was motivated to earn his Gold Seal Certification because, with no prior education in the field, and having learnt the job through experience, Gold Seal offered him a way to measure how skilled he was in the field. Gold Seal Certification was his method of proving to himself and his peers the amount he’s learnt over a decade of hard work.

Now certified, Travis has proof for clients and his peers that he is resourceful, educated and experienced. His certification is more than validation for his experience, but is also proof of credibility. He is proud knowing he stands alongside Canada-Wide Project Managers, and other construction professionals with their GSC, as a professional who is proficient in his role.
