“Any certification or award recognizing your talents within your industry speaks to your character and ratifies successes and accomplishments that may have only formerly been known to you. Your Gold Seal Certification is a real tangible demonstration for your years of experience and your expectations for excellence in your field.”

Shaun Do Rego, GSC, Site Manager, Symtech Innovations

Shaun is a go-getter, and is quite inspirational.

Shaun began working in the field of construction post-high school. He took part in the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP), which was a perfect opportunity to get some exposure in a skilled trade of his choice. After completing the program, Shaun graduated from high school and was immediately signed on to be an electrical apprentice. He has been in the Construction industry since 2004.

Shaun’s involvement in the Young Construction Leaders, a division of the TCA (Toronto Construction Association) encouraged him to pursue the Gold Seal Certification, a designation shared among today’s construction industry leaders, and other inspired young professionals. “I was inspired from leaders, and associated their levels of success with the certifications they had, which so happened to be Gold Seal Certification.”

Shaun proudly earned his Gold Seal Certification on April 15th, 2016. “I wanted to get my Gold Seal Certification because I wanted to self-improve. I’m a self-motivated person by nature, so the fact alone that Gold Seal Certification was available to me made me decide to get it.”

Today Shaun shares his designation as a Master Electrician as established by the Electrical Safety Authority with his Gold Seal Certification. He is currently employed as a site manager for Symtech Innovations Ltd, an electrical contracting company in Toronto, and the recipient of the TCA 2012 trade contractor of the year. He’s been primarily managing the construction of data centers for the last 2 years. Shaun’s daily responsibilities vary from procuring, contract revisions, all matters scheduling, material ordering, equipment procurement, managing workers and making sure things are completed on time. There’s a lot of foresight that goes into it, and Shaun expresses that he really enjoys his career choices.

“GET THE DESIGNATION. Wear it at the end of your name, on your business cards, on your email signature, wear it proudly. The designation gets you recognized, and advertises that you are a professional within your industry. Separate yourself from the flock and identify as the leader you know you are, identify yourself as Gold Seal Certified.”
