Lonnie Trelenberg

“Among the benefits of obtaining my GSC is the opportunity to learn what I have learned and the ability to communicate better in the field regarding construction specifics. Education and training allow me to be more efficient in my job, and improve my credibility.”

Lonnie Trelenberg, GSC, Project Manager/ Estimator

Lonnie is an electrical Project Manager/Estimator who looks after the northern British Columbia region for his employer. Lonnie is responsible for a large portion of the project managing and estimating for the industrial and commercial electrical component of his company. Daily, Lonnie takes care of dealing with the typical construction aspects of Project Managing and Estimating, and time managing thoroughly to be able to do both. In the morning, Lonnie prefers to tackle his Project Management responsibilities, which includes addressing any issues that may arise on a project. In the afternoons, he typically transfers to his Estimator responsibilities.

Lonnie always wanted to be an electrician. Early on in his life this career became a goal he wanted to achieve, but he experienced difficulties trying to break into the field. He was forced to start small and work his way up. After completing his apprenticeship, he became a Foreman. After that, he moved up quickly to become a Superintendent, then slowly he got the opportunity to try his hand at Estimating. After achieving success from this new role, he got into Project Management, which is where he is today, the rest is history.

In 2016, Lonnie won the Gold Award for the Vancouver Regional Construction Association Award of Excellence, and he has been nominated a second time for the Gold Award this year for how well his projects were managed.

Lonnie discovered the Gold Seal Certification through his Regional Manager. “It was something that I had never heard of before, but as soon as I had found out and learned more about it, it was immediately one of my goals. I’m really one to strive to further my education and personal development.” Lonnie got his Gold Seal Certification in October 2016.

“I think Gold Seal Certification is an excellent thing to pursue; it definitely gives people the opportunity to develop new skills that benefit the entire industry. I encourage anyone who has opportunity to challenge the Gold Seal to do it.”
