Kris Ross, GSC, Project Manager and Estimator, Hipperson Construction

From a young age, Kris excelled in mathematics and sciences, thus Engineering seemed like an obvious career path to take post high school. He describes himself as someone who was always driven by a curiosity for wanting to discover how things were made.

Today, as a construction Project Manager and Estimator located in Saskatchewan, it’s discernible that his employment focal point revolves around industry construction projects such as mining infrastructure and civil concrete work. Depending on the tasks at hand on the job site, Kris performs a variety of tasks including reviewing drawings, talking with clients and subcontractors, budgeting, scheduling, and the general management of day to day operations. “I like what I do, it’s interesting. I’ve had a good mix of projects and as time goes on they become more challenging. My favourite kind of projects is in the mining and heavy industrial sectors. Typically, they’re bigger, more expensive, and more rewarding.”

Kris discovered Gold Seal Certification when he started his employment with Hipperson Construction. “The job posting said Gold Seal Certified an asset, I was probably a couple years into working with my employers as a Project Manager when I started considering the requirements to get certified.” Kris earned his Certification in October 2015. “It was the next designation for me to earn. I got my p.Eng. The Gold Seal Certification was the next big step for me in my career.”

“If you’re working in the construction industry and would like a further designation to pursue, the Gold Seal Certification is the one worth taking.”
