She has unintentionally followed in her grandmother’s footsteps and has pursued a career as a Construction Estimator. She’s been working in this field for the last ten years, starting in Estimating after successfully completing her Construction Engineering Technology degree at George Brown, in Toronto. Post-graduation, she relocated to Alberta where she resides today with her husband and three kids. When Julie isn’t traveling or spending some quality time with her family, she is preoccupied with improving her career.
“I enjoy a job where I have to think, and Estimating is that exactly. I like that my workdays are always changing. There’s never a dull day.” Julie discovered the Gold Seal Certification while she was attending George Brown College.

Julie obtained her Gold Seal Certification in October 2016. She set her sights on earning her Gold Seal back while at George Brown College. “When I first applied, I didn’t have enough experience to acquire it. Thus, I joined the Gold Seal Intern program and worked on it for a few years until I accrued enough experience. When I returned from my maternity leave, I knew it was time to challenge the exam.”
