Josh Heller

“I wasn’t pressured into earning my Gold Seal Certification; I wanted to get the certification to prove my dedication to the trade and construction in general. I wanted to show my employees and others around me that I wasn’t just in my role because I was the second generation, and that I am willing to put in the hard work and committed to my job.”

Josh Heller, GSC, Vice President, C&H Fire Suppression Systems Inc.

Josh is the vice president at C&H Fire Suppression Systems Inc. A fire suppression company responsible for the sales and installations of sprinklers, standpipes, clean agent systems, foam systems, and anything in the realm of fire suppression.

His father started the business with the help of a partner in 1985, in Kitchener. The company still thrives today and has successfully survived through multiple recessions. Having seen the opportunities his father has had, including his experiences, Josh knew it was something he also wanted to do as a career. Josh started his career right away after leaving high school. He began by getting his certification as an installer, then transitioned into an office role. Eventually, he accumulated experience from different departments in the family business to grasp everything it required for long-term success; moving to the engineering and design department for a few years and transitioning to estimating. From that point forward Josh went into Project management. Due to his strong leadership qualities, his father allowed him to buy into the company when he had proven his ability to success and his dedication.

Today he sits in the Vice President chair of the company. Josh has been working with the company for 15 years.

Josh discovered the Gold Seal Certification with the help of Martha George at the Grand Valley Construction Association Office (GVCA). “I wasn’t familiar with it at the time. After speaking with her I did more research, and I thought ‘the Gold Seal Certification is something I see myself achieving.’ I asked for another meeting with Martha, she advised me and directed me to where I needed to go. She helped me set up a plan to work towards getting my Gold Seal Certification while still working full time in my business.

On October 26th, 2016, Josh received his Gold Seal certification.

“Do it as soon as possible. If you don’t have enough to write exam, start up as an intern. Get your application in as soon as possible and start taking your career to the next level!”
