Jesse Cubberley

Jesse is a superintendent for Ventana Construction Corporation. He oversees running day-to-day operations and is responsible for the site. Jesse began his long career in construction due to his father’s influence. His father, whom he mentions is an enormous influence in his life, was a home builder. His father holds a special place for him and mentions that he’s learnt to work hard and to strive to be his best, by his example. Jesse began working under his father’s wing and eventually went on to earn his Red Seal in Carpentry. Jesse has also completed his BCIT Construction Operation certification, as well as his LEED Green Associate Certification.
Jesse heard about Gold Seal Certification through word of mouth while on the job site. Only a few other superintendents at the company already had their Gold Seal, and Jesse decided earning his Gold Seal Certification would allow him to join the minor few who’ve decided to take the next step in their career.
After six long years of dedication and hard work, Jesse earned his Gold Seal Certification in April 2016. His company proudly sponsored him to write his exam by covering the cost for his exam and education. “The hardest part was to earn my credits. I was in night school for two years, with two small children at home working towards being the best I can be at my job.”
Jesse describes feeling certain benefits associated to having achieved his Gold Seal Certification: “I have the respect among the trades and my coworkers, I also feel a sense of satisfaction knowing I’ve accomplished a milestone in my career, this is, after all, what I’ve been striving for, for the last six years.”
“I feel like I accomplished what I set out to do. It was a long journey and I’m very proud of myself. So, set your goals, do whatever it takes, and push yourself to do it. It’s not easy, but in the end, it’s well worth it and very rewarding.”
