Jamie Kossowan

“I saw Gold Seal Certified on other people’s resumes, e-mails, and it was clearly my next step too. It’s not a necessity for a superintendent, but there’s no question about it, it’s become standard that you need it and I’m proud that I’ve got mine.”

Jamie Kossowan, GSC, Superintendent

Jamie grew up in Vancouver, BC. He was always interested in woodworking and grew up helping his father in a woodshop. He remembers being 12 years old and shadowing his father, who was a superintendent at the time, to his first job site. This inspired Jamie to pursue his future career in construction.

Today Jamie is working on his doctorate of technology. He’s a licenced carpenter, currently finishing his B.Tech. He’s currently working as a Superintendent, like his father was before him. He heard about Gold Seal Certification during his apprenticeship. After earning his Red Seal, he decided that the Gold Seal Certification was his next step.

Jamie received his Certifications in October 2015. Earning his Gold Seal was a challenging process, but real-life work experience helped him reach his goal. Jamie surrounded himself with positive influences and had great mentors, who according to Jamie, taught him the proper way of doing things.

“As soon as I was able to take my Gold Seal Certification, I did it. It was a career goal I set for myself.” He feels that earning his Gold Seal Certification has given his professional credibility in the construction industry an edge. He’s also relieved knowing he’s got the industry standard certification, which proudly represents his skills with a golden badge of honour.

“Not only do you get personal achievement, but you also gain acceptance with many companies and peers. Having your GSC is a great display that you have met industry standards and that you put extra effort, care and, attention into your professional development. Who wouldn’t want to hire someone with those qualities? Gold Seal Certification will earn you respect in this industry.”
