Guillaume Robitaille
“You can learn a lot in school, but you learn more when you’re hands-on and involved in the work you’re trying to perfect. Being on the job site is a vastly different world compared to the one in the office. I’m a perfect example of what hard work and determination can do for someone when you apply yourself and take the time to train.”
Guillaume Robitaille, GSC, Project Director
Guillaume is a Project Director working on a multitude of public projects, and works alongside real estate promoters in and around Montreal. He performs various tasks as a construction Project Director such as: construction planning, budgeting, etc. Currently, he is involved in the construction of a 129-floor retirement home high-rise. At the beginning of Guillaume’s career, he worked in the construction field as a labourer. Slowly but surely he climbed the ranks, beginning as a labourer, to superintendent, eventually earning the role he currently holds. Guillaume described himself as an individual who has a unique set of skills and experience with high-rise buildings that have made him the perfect candidate for his current role.
After attending courses provided by the ACQ Metropolitaine (Association de la construction du Québec), Guillaume discovered the Gold Seal Certification. What truly piqued his interest about the program was that it’s educational content focused greatly on construction management. What is more, Gold Seal Certification’s courses were more hands-on and involving than other certification programs available on the market.
His motivations for wanting to earn his Gold Seal Certification became a growing desire for wanting a professional accreditation on his portfolio to highlight his construction management skills. His company was happy to sponsor his intent, and even encouraged him to do so. In October 2016, Guillaume proudly earned his Gold Seal Certification. Along the way to reaching his goal he described having to face a multitude of trials. Guillaume began his career at the bottom of the corporate ladder and was only able to achieve his goals with the help and support from others.
“Gold Seal Certification is a great thing to do. Don’t let the amount of work needed hold you back. You need to take your time and analyse the possibilities of what a little work on your part can do. Set up a plan of action, get it straight, and go for the GOLD!”
