Frank Grossi
“I feel so much better about myself, knowing I have conquered the industry management standard training and certification. When people look at me now they respect my credibility as a leader.”
Frank Grossi, GSC, Health and Safety Manager, Govan Brown Construction Managers
Frank prevents deaths as part of his job.
His career as a Health and Safety Manager for Govan Brown Construction Managers began after he left the printing industry. Frank began working in construction as a labourer, and eventually directed his efforts into construction health and safety. Frank is devoted to his job. He’s been working 6 years to date, and on top of that, is a certified instructor for Infrastructure Health & Safety Association (IHSA). His goal is to prevent deaths and accidents, as well as educate people on the idea of proper safety. “I’m helping to build a culture of safety so that everyone can understand the importance of safety on construction sites.”
Frank learned about Gold Seal Certification through an already certified friend. “When I heard of it, I didn’t think I was ready. But, my goal was to become Gold Seal Certified because it IS the highest accreditation for a construction person.” Frank earned his certification in January 2016. “I’ve reached a solid level of education. People take me seriously because they know I have that golden credential.”
It’s clear to see that Frank is driven by personal goals. He worked towards earning his Gold Seal Certification by himself, and paid the expenses from his own pocket. Describing it as a personal satisfaction goal, the industry standard certification is what he desired to achieve as part of his new career. “I’ve always believed that education is important, especially now that I’m working in the construction industry.” Part of earning his Gold Seal Certification was wanting to prove to himself and others than he can reach his best and make a difference. He is proud of his accomplishment.
The bottom line?
“Do not hesitate. Take the step up and do it. A lot of people say “I’ll get to it tomorrow, I’ll look into it”, but the best thing you can do for yourself and your career is get certified. It’ll give you a better standard to work towards, you’ll earn respect among safety personnel.”
