Courtney Jobse

“It can be intimidating to allow your skills and knowledge to be judged by others, but there is tremendous value in getting an assessment of where your skills are at, and where you may need to improve – this is a great benefit of the GSC program.”

Courtney Jobse, GSC, Construction Superintendent, Regina Elevator

Having literally grown up in the elevator trade following in the footsteps of his father, Courtney Jobse was first introduced to the trade at 6 years of age as he shadowed his father. Searching for an opportunity to earn credentials that would reflect all the skills he had learned over his 18 years, he applied for Gold Seal Certification, a process which involves being openly tested by a number of industry experts to ensure your level of skill and competence meets the industry’s highest standard.

Courtney is now recognized across Canada as a construction management professional; what he’s learned over 18 years on the job is now reflected with his Gold Seal Certification. It was another step in his life-long learning process that he was proud to have completed. Now, in his current management role, he oversees daily completions of construction projects, as well as provides technical assistance and training to on-site workers at Regina Elevator.

“Your GSC is a unique credential. This industry requires a specialized skillset for construction managers to have, and the GSC is built by the industry, for the industry. I encourage others to be tested and seek the certification – you have nothing to lose by applying.”
