Amir Soleimani
“Gold Seal Certification is an excellent bridge between construction and management. It opened my eyes to different types of contracts, how contracts are set up, etc. Through the Gold Seal program, I obtained amazing knowledge regarding how I am supposed to deal, as a manager, with construction projects.”
Amir Soleimani, GSC, Project Manager, Limen Group Construction Ltd.
Amir arrived in Canada in 2004 from Iran. He began working as a Draft-Man, which is also one of his interests, as it’s similar to the employment he held back home. However, slowly as time progressed, Amir’s superiors began noticing his potential, and he became a Project Coordinator. From that point forward he never looked back. He is now working happily with Limen Group Construction Ltd. As a Project Manager. The last ten years for Amir have been a journey from Drafting to Advanced Project Management. Beginning his career as many others have, with a university degree and work experience, Amir knew the next step in his career was obtaining certifications to boost his credibility.
In 2009, Amir discovered Gold Seal Certification when he began working at Limen Group Construction Ltd. His manager encouraged him to pursue it, and provided him with valuable informational steps to get himself enrolled into the program. In November 2014, Amir proudly earned his Gold Seal Certification.
Amir’s motivation for earning his Gold Seal Certification lay in his profound interest in continual education. “When I finished university in Iran, I obtained a type of understanding from school that only partially illuminated one side of the construction industry. I obtained my PMP first because it was a good place to begin to connect my knowledge to management. However, I wanted my Gold Seal Certification.
Amir has faced challenges along his journey to his successful completion of his Gold Seal Certification. “I felt that before completing my certification, I had a weakness in terms of knowledge regarding contracts. I knew I’d have to do something for my career development, if I wanted to complete my job to my fullest potential and be successful in Canada. It’s my responsibility as a project manager to uphold my position as if I was the owner of a job, and to treat it as such.” Today, Amir still feels the benefits from earning his Gold Seal Certification and happily declares he’s not done learning, and is pursuing continuous opportunities to learn new skills for his job.
“It’s a matter of learning, and in a way, a personal journey of self-betterment. Gold Seal Certification becomes part of your life. You keep using it on a daily basis in your role and it becomes an extension of yourself.”
