CCA meets with the new Minister of PSPC on key issues facing the industry
CCA attended the semi-annual Meech Lake meeting on December 7 where experts from the construction sector met with senior officials from the Government of Canada to discuss critical issues affecting the industry.
CCA presented industry views to the the Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister of Public Services and Procurement Canada and other senior government officials from Employment and Social Development Canada, the Treasury Board Secretariat, the Department of National Defence, and other relevant departments.
Topics covered included the delays on federal prompt payment regulations, the barriers created under the current contract security program, exploring different service delivery models to improve productivity and reduce project costs, and the next steps on the National Infrastructure Assessment.
A follow up meeting is scheduled for the spring to advance these important issues. By working together with the Government of Canada, the construction industry can continue building a resilient and sustainable infrastructure for the benefit of all Canadians.
