Bio-Brick Labs voted most exciting innovation at CCA Annual Conference
Ontario-based biotech invention Bio-Brick Labs (MicroBuild) won top honours at a CCA Annual Conference session on March 10, 2023.
The Innovator’s Pitch involved three CONtact mentees presenting their innovative product or service to a panel of judges with the audience voting on the innovation they would be most excited to see implemented in the industry.
Bio-Brick Labs is focused on the research, development, and manufacturing of environmentally sustainable masonry units, explained co-founder Adrian Simone. The Bio-Brick, made using only two ingredients (bacteria and aggregate), solidifies at room temperature, eliminating carbon emissions in the solidification process.
CCA caught up with Adrian after the conference to discuss how Bio-Bricks could change the construction landscape by helping to reduce carbon emissions from production while also creating carbon-neutral raw building materials.
Now in its fifth year, the CCA CONtact mentorship program has connected over 30 innovators with construction industry experts for a series of mentorship sessions designed to provide feedback on the entrepreneur’s product or service solution. Mentors share their insights on value, price, features, distribution, feasibility, or any other element that will improve the likelihood of its adoption in the market.
