Attention all innovators! CONtact mentorship program now open

The Canadian Construction Association’s (CCA) CONtact innovator mentorship program matches innovators and entrepreneurs with experienced industry leaders to help refine their creative new products and services for the construction industry.

Nearly 30 promising innovators have been mentored over the last three years, with some of their solutions now being tried and tested in the industry.

Last year, we introduced our own “Construction Den”-style session at the CCA Annual Conference where three innovators presented their solutions in-person to a live and digital audience, who then voted on the innovation they most wanted to see implemented in the industry.

Watch winner Mach 85 present their innovation at the 2022 Annual Conference.

Interested in travelling to this year’s annual conference in Tucson, Arizona to present your innovation? Thanks to support from the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP), three mentees will be selected to present and receive mentoring on-site from industry experts, in addition to the program’s virtual mentoring meeting.

“I can’t emphasize enough how valuable this experience has been for us. The opportunity to present your solution and get instant, detailed feedback and guidance from a panel of industry leaders is extremely rare. Yet that’s exactly what you get with the CONtact mentorship program. The mentors we worked with were just excellent and provided us with so many critical insights and considerations. Thank you, CCA!”

The program could not happen without the many industry experts who have shared their time and insight. We’d love to add you to our pool of mentors to ensure that each innovator is being matched to industry experts with the most relevant experience. We are looking for individuals who:

  • currently work in a Canadian construction company;
  • have over five years of industry experience with a relevant specialization;
  • hold a senior leadership position (senior manager or above);
  • possess good listening and sharing skills; and
  • can see the big picture as well as be aware of potential changes within the industry and future trends.

“I was humbled and honoured when asked if I would be open to participate in the CONtact mentorship program and I saw it as an opportunity to hear enthusiastically presented fresh and innovative ideas for the construction market. My mantra for decades has been, ‘It’s a dull day when you don’t learn something,’ and as such it was certainly a win-win program to participate in because I personally learned a lot!”
