New mentees selected for 2019 CONtact Innovator Mentorship Program

OTTAWA, October 10, 2019 – Canadian Construction Innovations (CCI) is delighted to announce the selection of mentees for the 2019 CONtact Innovator Mentorship Program.

The scaled-up 2019 mentorship program saw an impressive number of candidates from across Canada. More than 30 applications from innovators and entrepreneurs in construction were submitted, and 15 mentees were selected by an independent panel of advisors.

The services of these mentees reflect the range, from offering innovative new building materials to tech solutions, representing the diverse and technology driven solutions available in the industry.

“The number of applications demonstrate the entrepreneurial spirit to create new solutions, and the vast opportunity for innovation in the industry,” said Mary Van Buren, CCA president. “We are excited to help the mentees’ products and solutions progress to the next level by exposing them to the industry for adoption.”

“The CONtact initiative is a new avenue to advance innovation in the industry,” added John Bockstael, CCI chair. “We are keen to provide a platform for forward-looking entrepreneurs and innovators, especially those that are technology-based, to help transform the construction industry.”

The actual mentoring will begin later this month and will continue through to February 2020.

CONtact is an initiative of CCI in partnership with the Canadian Construction Association (CCA) with support from the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP).

The CONtact mentorship initiative is designed to boost innovation within the Canadian construction industry by matching innovators and entrepreneurs creating new solutions for the industry with experienced industry leaders to help refine their products and services for fast-track adoption.
