Masonry Design Continuing Professional Development for Engineers: Advancements in the Research, Standards Development, and Design of Masonry Structures using MASS
What’s Included: 5 hours of instructional, continuing professional development
We’ll be sharing an overview of what is new in the world of Canadian masonry research and highlight specifically some work being done to make life easier when it comes to the design of slender walls with stack pattern masonry (CMDC staff regularly get questions from contractors and designers regarding stack pattern masonry used in loadbearing applications).
Dr. Nigel Shrive is a professor from the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Calgary and is flying in to talk about the historical development, current progress, and future direction of our Canadian masonry codes and standards ahead of the 2024 CSA standard updates.
Finally, most of the instructional time in the afternoon will be practical and geared towards people who are already familiar with masonry to cover the more advanced aspects of using MASS. As a note, this is not an introductory seminar and it is meant for people who are already familiar with the basics of masonry design using MASS.
The full itinerary is included further below.
Price: $95 per attendee. $45 reduced rate for students and researchers.
Registration includes refreshments, buffet lunch, and cocktails.
Special thanks to CCMPA sponsorship for offsetting the cost and hosting the event.
