Introduction:

CCA is seeking a strategic, bilingual Media Relations Manager to manage our media relations and provide communications support to the organization’s leadership. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating media outreach to ensure a consistent and compelling public narrative, crafting public statements, and overseeing the organization’s public communications strategy including social media. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of political and public affairs, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to respond swiftly to media inquiries and public concerns.

Responsibilities:

Position: Media Relations Manager

Reports to: AVP, Marketing and Communications

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement media relations strategies to enhance the organization’s visibility and reputation.
  • Coordinate media engagements, including scheduling interviews, preparing briefings, and managing media requests.
  • Respond promptly to situations, issues and inquiries with clear, effective communication strategies.
  • Prepare and coach the official spokesperson for media interviews, press conferences, and public appearances.
  • Draft and distribute press releases, speeches, statements, media kits and other public-facing communications.
  • Manage and curate content for social media platforms, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and messaging.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure messaging consistency across all platforms and communication channels.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets.
  • Analyze social media metrics to evaluate performance and drive engagement.
  • Monitor media coverage and analyze public sentiment, providing strategic advice on how to handle public issues.
  • Stay informed on political trends, media dynamics, and key issues relevant to the organization’s work.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in media relations, public affairs, or communications, preferably in a political or public sector environment.
  • Proven experience in managing public communications and coordinating successful media campaigns.
  • Bilingual (English and French) with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute effective communication strategies.
  • Familiarity with social media management tools and analytics platforms.
  • Strong understanding of media operations, news cycles, and political communication strategies.
  • Experience in crisis communication and managing media-sensitive issues.

Salary range: $70,000 to $80,000 annually

Compensation is to be determined at the time of hiring, based on the successful candidate’s experience and profile.
