Introduction:
This position is a unique opportunity to contribute to economic research and policy analysis that shapes the future of Canada’s construction industry. Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, Public Affairs and Industry Practices, you will be a core member of the Public Affairs team, engaging in the development and execution of CCA’s economic research and policy strategic objectives.
Your role will involve analyzing macroeconomic trends, producing industry reports, and supporting public policy initiatives to provide insight into key infrastructure and economic trends affecting the construction industry. You will also translate complex economic concepts for a non-technical audience, including industry members and policymakers, ensuring that CCA remains a trusted source of economic intelligence for the sector.

The Canadian Construction Association (CCA) is the national voice for Canada’s construction industry, which employs close to 1.6 million Canadians and accounts for 7.4 per cent of our GDP.
Responsibilities:
Position: Analyst, Economics and Policy
Reports to: Associate Vice-President, Public Affairs and Industry Practices
Key responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyze economic trends, trade policies, and regulatory changes impacting the construction industry.
- Conduct original research and contribute to CCA publications, reports, presentations, and briefing materials related to economic and public policy matters.
- Maintain and update CCA’s Economic Data Repository and other economic products, such as the ICIC Quarterly Insights report.
- Provide technical support and specialized analysis across different departments.
- Support the development of economic and industry-related content for advocacy and member engagement.
- Assist in organizing and managing policy discussions, roundtables, and workshops integrating economic research into broader policy initiatives.Support the Public Affairs team in the successful achievement of their goals and objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in economics or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree is considered an asset.
- Good understanding of macroeconomics, financial markets, labour markets and infrastructure investments.
- Previous experience analyzing tax policy is an asset.
- Previous experience with forecasting is preferred but not required.
- 1 to 2 years of work or internship experience in economic research, public policy, or a related area.
Skills and knowledge:
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex economic topics for a non-technical audience.
- Advanced knowledge of economic data sources, trade policies, and regulatory frameworks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and SharePoint.
- Familiarity with statistical or econometric methods and software such as R, EViews, or STATA is an asset.
- Strong time management skills and ability to perform effectively under pressure.
- Knowledge of the Canadian political and infrastructure landscapes is considered an asset.

Salary range: $57,500 to $67,500 annually
Compensation is to be determined at the time of hiring, based on the successful candidate’s experience and profile.
