Submission requirements : CDBI Award of Excellence

  1. Cover Page:
    • Project name, address, and completion date.
    • The following paragraph, verbatim:
      • “I understand that the contents of this entry become the property of the CDBI and will not be returned. I further understand that CDBI shall have the right to make all text and photographs available for publication without compensation, real or implied, and without claim by contestants against the judging committee, CDBI or its staff, or individual CDBI members.”
    • Name, date, and signature of the party submitting.
  2. Contact Information:
    • Name, email, and telephone number of one contact person for:
      • Design consultants
      • Owner/developer
      • Design-builder
      • Any significant design-build trade contractors
  3. Project Information:
    • A brief description of the procurement method, including the selection process for the design-builder.
    • The form of contract used (eg. CCDC 14, CCDC 15), or other design-build arrangement.
    • An organizational chart showing the contractual relationships between the major parties.
    • An outline of a brief description of the project and its scope, goals, and the disciplines involved (eg. architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical) and any other major considerations (eg. life cycle, environmental sustainability).
    • A description of any innovative methods used to improve any aspect of the project (eg. schedule, cost, safety).
    • A comparison of the actual project cost and schedule against the original contract value and completion date. Provide comment on any differences.
    • A description of any design-build best practices used during the project.
  4. Project Photos:
    • Photographs should be included of the project, including both interior and exterior shots, to display a full understanding of the project.

Submissions should not exceed 1,500 words.

There is no submittal fee for CDBI members. The project submittal fee for non-CDBI members is $400 plus tax.
